Outlining the many benefits of boosting cycling as a form of commuting.
Bike2Work campaigns have great success in boosting cycling commuter numbers. They are also proven to be highly effective in achieving sustained behavioural change that continues long after the action. As a result, they achieve extensive energy savings and CO2 reductions: during the project ~ 8,870 tonnes of fuel (toe) and ~ 52,299 tonnes CO2 will be saved (tCO2e).
On the personal level, there are many benefits such as; improved health, fitness, weight loss and transport costs savings. Equally, companies get business advantages that include cost savings on infrastructural investments and reduced sick leave of employees.
Finally, it goes without saying that a modal shift to more cycling both increases the overall quality of life in cities and frees up investment destined for road or public transport expenditure.
