Belgian initiative of Fietsersbond
' organizes an annual summer competition (May/June) and an annual winter trophy (November).
How does it work?
There are teams of 2-5 from the same company who accept the challenge to achieve a biking rate of at least 25, 50 or even 75%. They fill in an online campaign calendar and at the end of the campaign there is an award.
In terms of promotion, they use posters, post-its with motivating bike slogans, and social media outlets.
What makes it a success?
- Holding the campaign in both the winter and summer months, is very effective at encouraging employees to take up cycling!
- All communication is tri-lingual in order to be accessible for everyone (Dutch, French and English).
- Companies provide a rain protection coat for bags with the 'biketowork' logo.
