This May Greece commutes with "Bike2Work”
, a friendly contest in which participants use the campaign’s website platform to log the kilometers they cycle to work each day for the duration of one month, has been organized in Greece since 2011 and it has become very popular in the country. Last year over 200 companies and 1500 cyclists participated in Bike2Work, crossing more than 330.000 km while also saving over 35.000 liters of gas which, if released in the atmosphere, would have produced 80 tons of carbon dioxide!
This year, the campaign returns to Greece between May 1st and 31st, uniting even more cyclists under its roof since this time it will be organized as a joined effort by two Greek cycling groups; the Open Cycling Group (ΠΟΔΗΛΑΤ-ισσ-ΕΣ) and the Athens Bike Community
(ΠοδηλΑΤΤΙΚΗ ΚΟΙΝΟΤΗΤΑ). The Athens Bike Community has taken the initiative to place the campaign under the auspices of the European Cyclists’ Federation
, thus linking it with other national Bike2Work campaign staking place in 11 European countries
